PCS — Professional Communications Systems

WTVC Building

WTVC Chattanooga, Tennessee

Situation

When WTVC Channel 9, the ABC affiliate in Chattanooga, Tennessee, decided to make the transition to an all-digital facility, they contacted PCS.

WTVC was under a strict deadline to move out of their existing space and into their new facility, and PCS had to work closely with WTVC’s architectural firm, TWH Architects, Inc., to identify the space and mechanical requirements necessary in a new building to support a digital broadcast infrastructure.

WTVC wanted a system not only designed to meet their current needs, but one that could be easily upgraded to take advantage of future digital technologies. With our digital broadcasting system experience and expertise, we were up to the task.

Solution

The project was handled in two phases. PCS first consulted with WTVC to develop a “Scope of Work,” identifying and documenting technical and operational requirements for the system and establishing budgets and timelines.

Once this was completed, WTVC hired PCS to implement the plan. PCS went to work providing system design and engineering, procuring equipment and performing total installation, integration, and testing.

By using our Pre-Planning/Turnkey Build-Out Approach, and working closely with the WTVC engineering and management team, PCS was able to deliver the digital facility that met WTVC’s needs, budget, and move-in target date.

Results

Pre-planning and preparation made the weekend transition from old to new facility a success, and WTVC is now on-the-air, producing top-quality news and entertainment programming from their state-of-the-art digital broadcasting facility.

Thanks to the hard work and cooperation of the professionals at WTVC and PCS.
